Card-Present POS

In-store card acceptance, certified for Djibouti.

Cybersource cardpresent with TopWise EMV terminals brings Visa and Mastercard to Djiboutian merchants — countertop, mobile, and pin-pad form factors. PCI scope is minimised by P2PE; the same MerasPay account that runs your online charges runs your storefront.

Hardware that fits the store

Pick the form factor; the merchant experience and reporting stay identical across them.

TopWise A920 / A910

Android-based smart POS with a 5.5" screen, integrated thermal printer, 4G + Wi-Fi, and a chip + magstripe + contactless reader. Battery-friendly for mobile vendors.

TopWise S90

Countertop unit for higher-volume retail. Connected over Ethernet or Wi-Fi, supports receipt printer plus optional PIN-pad accessory.

TopWise M-series mPOS

Bluetooth pin-pad that pairs with a merchant tablet running the MerasPay POS app. Cheapest path to card acceptance for small storefronts.

What ships in every terminal

Card-present is more than the magstripe reader. We pre-load the things that take months to get right — EMV kernels, P2PE keys, offline queuing, contactless support.

EMV Level 1 and Level 2 certified

Contact chip + contactless EMV kernels pre-loaded. Visa and Mastercard schemes supported on day one; American Express and UnionPay as they re-enable in market.

PCI P2PE end-to-end

Card data is encrypted in the terminal before it reaches the merchant device. The merchant POS only ever sees a token — your PCI scope shrinks dramatically.

P2PE key injection

BDK keys are injected in a controlled ceremony at the MerasPay key-injection facility. Keys are stamped to a specific terminal serial; lost terminals are revoked centrally.

Tipping and split-tender

Tip prompts (percent or absolute), partial-amount approvals, cash-and-card split-tenders all flow through the same Charge resource.

Receipt printing and email

On-device thermal printing for hardware that supports it, plus per-transaction emailed receipts on every charge. Refunds reprint automatically.

Offline tolerance

Brief network blips queue transactions on-device with a signed timestamp. The terminal flushes the queue when connectivity returns; double-spend is prevented by idempotency.

A typical in-store transaction

  1. 1

Terminal pulled from rack and signed in

Cashier authenticates against the MerasPay merchant account. Their action and location are recorded for the audit trail.

  2. 2

    Charge created

POS software calls /v1/charges with amount + currency + terminal id. The terminal prompts the cardholder.

  3. 3

    Card presented and authorised

EMV chip dip, contactless tap, or magstripe fallback. The terminal encrypts the cardholder data, calls Cybersource cardpresent, and returns an authorisation.

  4. 4

    Receipt printed, charge captured

The terminal prints, the customer signs or PIN-confirms, and the charge captures synchronously. Settlement happens overnight on the merchant's schedule.

Frequently asked

Where do the terminals come from?

MerasPay distributes TopWise hardware certified for the Djibouti market. We handle the key-injection ceremony, terminal provisioning, and merchant-by-merchant assignment.

Is the merchant in PCI scope?

With P2PE, the merchant is reduced to SAQ P2PE — by far the lightest PCI assessment. Card data is encrypted at the terminal head before the merchant device ever sees it.

How does cardpresent connect to the rest of MerasPay?

A POS charge creates the same Charge resource as any other rail. It posts to the same ledger, emits the same webhooks, and is refundable through the same /v1/refunds endpoint.

What is the status of this product?

The orchestrator and Charge resource are production-ready. Cybersource cardpresent and TopWise SDK integration are blocked on vendor onboarding (sandbox merchant id, key-block injection scope, SDK platform target). Hardware roll-out begins as those clear.

Can the same terminal accept QR payments?

Yes. The TopWise units include a built-in QR scanner — the same terminal can run an EMV transaction or scan a customer-presented QR. The charge resource is shape-identical.
